“Whoever you are and wherever you are, I hope you had a happy Thanksgiving last week! The year just won’t slow down, so I’m trying to carve a few moments here and there to think about what I’m grateful for and intentionally give thanks. I use that and photography to cherish the present moment before it’s gone!”

This is a job that allows me to connect with lots of different people, from all walks of life, who may otherwise have nothing in common except that I am their photographer – and I LOVE it. There is, however, one other thing I’ve noticed about the people who step in front of my camera…

“While Olivia was super cute as a newborn and adorably giggly as a 6-month-old, her 1 year session is when I really started to see her sweet personality. She shared so many smiles as she practiced walking and many laughs as she played with her parents! She even gave us some spit bubbles on the back porch! 🙂 …“

“Whenever I go to someone’s house for a session, I like to start with capturing what the babies or children are already doing. As I move more toward more lifestyle-type sessions that involve mostly interaction and showing connections, rather than posing and smiling just for the camera, I’m starting to treasure these “action” photos more and more. This is natural, this is real, and this what babies actually do because they’re babies!  …”

“The original plan for this mini-session at their house was for some family photos to use on Christmas cards, but unfortunately the kids’ dad woke up not feeling well that morning. Things happen, and they had the option of rescheduling, but we all figured we’d roll with it and move on with the photos we could capture anyway! I love it when people are flexible to do what we can, and I hope we can capture some memories of the whole family sometime soon! …”
