“Whoever you are and wherever you are, I hope you had a happy Thanksgiving last week! The year just won’t slow down, so I’m trying to carve a few moments here and there to think about what I’m grateful for and intentionally give thanks. I use that and photography to cherish the present moment before it’s gone!”
“At several points during this year, I’ve been able to spend some time at A Place at the Table, enjoy the community they curate in their café, and capture the beauty happening all around me. I LOVE this partnership, and love all that they’re doing to make fresh, healthy meals accessible to everyone. … I was elated to offer a photography session + photo art as part of the silent auction at their fundraiser, and I also got to photograph the event – spending the evening with so many people who keep APATT
rolling day in & day out!”
This is a job that allows me to connect with lots of different people, from all walks of life, who may otherwise have nothing in common except that I am their photographer – and I LOVE it. There is, however, one other thing I’ve noticed about the people who step in front of my camera…
THEY GET SILLY.
WE GET SILLY.
WE DON’T TAKE OURSELVES TOO SERIOUSLY.
“It was at about this point – as I sat with my camera & watched them interact – that I remembered just how important this is. Phoebe won’t be so little for so long, and seeing them become a family of 3 and then simply spending time together has been so special. Capture these moments, people!”
“Our pastor Lisa is really great at being intentional in the way we do things as a church – from broad plans to minor details – so I thought I’d take part in commemorating our time at the Bulla youth building by taking photos at our last Sunday there. Lisa spoke about the place being an Ebenezer for us… that each time we drive by, may we think beyond “hey, I used to worship there,” to “wow, God did a lot of great things while we were there.” I love how we mark space in significant ways. The following Sunday, I also commemorated our first service at All Saint’s Chapel with photos. …”
“AND THESE KITE PHOTOS… If I had the opportunity to take photos like this every day, my heart would be set for life. Seriously. Did your heart flutter as much as mine did seeing these photos? That authentic interaction, a parent playing with their child and having genuine, simple fun… these are perfect examples of why I love lifestyle photography more than posed photos. I enjoy capturing both styles of photos – but man. There’s just something about capturing these real moments of engagement and love. …”
“These two lovely people are so near and dear to my heart. I’ve known Heaven since fifth grade, and she and Russell started dating while we were in high school. We’ve supported each other through a lot and have spent many sleepovers together eating cookie dough, making forts, and putting things that we probably shouldn’t have in bonfires that were probably bigger than they should have been. …”
“While Olivia was super cute as a newborn and adorably giggly as a 6-month-old, her 1 year session is when I really started to see her sweet personality. She shared so many smiles as she practiced walking and many laughs as she played with her parents! She even gave us some spit bubbles on the back porch! 🙂 …“
