“I posted on social media last week that at the end of this week I would share the first of 3-4 upcoming Light Creative announcements. These announcements will be made over the next couple months, and today is the first one!

I’m excited to say that it’s a very big announcement and one that will affect my personal life forever… Andrew and I are expecting a baby at the end of August!”

Allow me to introduce you to Jayne, Michael, Colin, and Mary Kate! Jayne and Michael had the last-minute thought to get some photos taken while their adult children were in town over the holidays last year, and Jayne wasn’t sure she’d be able to find anyone to help them out before Colin and Mary Kate headed back home to NYC. I am so thankful that she found me on Yelp and that we got to enjoy a session together on New Year’s Eve!

“If you’re in Raleigh today, you’re experiencing a rainy, rainy day. If you’re in Northern VA or father north, you likely have a snow day! Wherever you are, hopefully you’re able to stay cozy in your house. That’s the best part about in-home photo sessions – they’re not dependent on the weather! This makes them great for any time of year, and I am so thankful for that! We took these photos on New Year’s Eve, just one week before Oliver turned one year old. It was a chilly, misty day, but in-home sessions are awesome any day of the year!”

“This week I got to look through all my photos from 2018, and – surprise, surprise – there was lots of joy & silliness to be found within last year’s sessions, too! You see, even though I photograph people from all different walks of life, I’ve found that my clients all tend to have one thing in common: THEY GET SILLY. WE GET SILLY. WE DON’T TAKE OURSELVES TOO SERIOUSLY. And this is basically my favorite thing. I love capturing joy for people, and it’s even more fun when they throw a funny face out there and just have a good ol’ time with the moments we share together!”

As soon as we got to the park area, Beau was ALL ABOUT those fall leaves. It was Clark’s idea to get Beau to play with them, and man-oh-man was that genius. Look how HAPPY this two-year-old is!! … While more mild-mannered in the energy department (for now, at least), Zoe had her time in the spotlight too, of course! Isn’t her squinty smile the sweetest?!

“Amidst the heartwarming wedding days, newborn snuggles, and excitement of graduating, it just seems that I attract people who aren’t afraid to throw a funny face out there or let loose a little. I LOVE IT! Here are some silly and particularly joyful moments from 2015, 2016, and 2017!”

“High school seniors, college students, brides & grooms – and yes, even babies… Even if they have nothing else in common, my clients tend to get a little silly, and I love it. It’s usually not prompted and happens just because we’re having fun. We had SO much fun in 2014 that all the photos featured in this second installation of my Joyful & Silly series are from that year alone! Enjoy!”

“None of the wonderful things that happened in 2018 would have been possible without you all (well, and God). I can’t express how much joy I get in my heart from capturing your everyday moments and special events, and it blesses me multiple times over knowing that you get joy from what we create together, too. THANK YOU for a 2018 full of hitting the ground running, building momentum, and doing this darn thing.“

“It’s hard to believe that, just a month before the snow, a few beautiful families and I were spending a beautiful autumn morning together at Historic Oak View County Park to capture some memories. It was a bit chilly that day, but the sun warmed us up! Today I’m sharing Ashley & Matt’s fun family with you!”

“Today I want to share some precious photos from another one of my November mini-sessions. Get this: Jessica came 3 HOURS down from VIRGINIA for this 20-minute session! WHAT?! Now that is dedication to her family photographer. <3 …”
