“Since I now have a little one of my own (who just turned 18 months old – whaaat?), I love being able to relate to mamas-to-be who have that feeling of anticipation, not knowing how things will be but excited nonetheless. While we get to know each other, our conversations often even go toward talking about weird stuff that happens during pregnancy – moms understand, and I feel like TMI is out the window when you go through pregnancy and birth!” …”
“It’s announcement time! For the first time ever in over 8 years of my photography business, I am selecting a niche and will be specializing in photography for new parents & families with little ones! Maternity sessions, newborn sessions, and sessions for families with young kids (think, toddlers & preschool-aged kids) will be my specialty, and I am so excited to grow in my service to these families and capture their precious first moments together.”
If Valentine’s Day is approaching and you’ve got an infant, the stars have aligned & it’s time for an adorable photoshoot! Valentine’s Day is a great time to take these photos, but they’re adorable at any time of the year. Our son’s half-birthday happens to fall on Valentine’s Day, so he was exactly 6 months old when we took these photos! It was the perfect way to celebrate him, give some extra smooches, and have photos that will always make my heart happy.
“You may remember Jen & Niels from previous posts as we celebrated their courthouse wedding & then began the New Life Collection! Catch up on their maternity photos & in-home newborn photos, and enjoy seeing baby Bryce grow with these 6-month-old photos aaand 1-year-old photos coming soon! Yes, that’s right, he just turned 1 year old last month, and I can hardly believe it’s already been a year since this little guy was born. …”
“Kate and I know each other from college at JMU, and I had the pleasure of taking Kate & Lucas’ engagement photos one cold, snowy day in Harrisonburg and then photographing their wedding in Virginia Beach back in 2014! Check those photos out on my previous blog, if you’d like. Talk about a throwback! More recently it’s been really fun keeping in touch with her over social media while we both raise little babies! …”
In case you didn’t know, I have the cutest baby ever (yes, I’m a little biased), and he just turned 1 year old! Actually, does that make him a toddler?! I’ve been celebrating him throughout the past month by posting photos of him on my social media – but the thing is, not all of you are on social media! I want to make sure all of you have access to cute Isaac content, so I’m sharing some favorite photos I’ve taken of him here on the blog, as well. 🙂
“Life in the time of COVID is tough to navigate sometimes, and there’s an added layer to it when you have active kids who need to move. Susanna, Bryan, and their sons David & Sam have been doing a lot of exploring by creeks & forests during the pandemic – what a great way to spend time together and get out of the house! …”
“We chat about your session & the moments you want to capture, we get all excited to work together and book your photo session, and then the next thought that comes to your mind is, ‘Now I have to figure out what the heck we are all gonna wear ’ That’s a quote from a recent client, and the “what to wear” question is so real! I get this question all the time. As a professional photographer who guides many families through choosing the perfect outfits for their photo session, I’m here to help you! …”
“Alicia & Edward like to celebrate milestone birthdays in extra special ways, and their daughter Abigail just turned 5 years old at the end of June! We met up at a park, recreated some photos from her first birthday photoshoot, and did some exploring. You might recognize this wonderful family from their family photos last spring and their Christmas cookie lifestyle photo session! They’re building their wall of gallery images quite nicely – see more at the end of the post! …”
“I’ve been posting an #amplifymelanatedvoices series on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter in order to lift up the voices of Black women and men and give them more space to express their thoughts and feelings. It’s been hard for me to find the words to say, but my voice isn’t the one that needs to be heard right now anyway – I want those who follow me to know and understand the raw, authentic feelings of our Black family. Not everyone is on social media, though, so I want to use this additional space to share the stories that people have so graciously been willing to let me share.”
