Hello, friends!
Wow, “it’s the holiday season” is right – we got over 6 inches of snow on Sunday! It hardly EVER snows here before Christmas, and I was a giddy little schoolgirl waking up to it Sunday morning. (You already know that if you saw my Instagram or Facebook stories!)
It’s hard to believe that, just a month before the snow, a few beautiful families and I were spending a beautiful autumn morning together at Historic Oak View County Park to capture some memories. It was a bit chilly that day, but the sun warmed us up!
Today I’m sharing Ashley & Matt’s fun family with you!
Ashley & Matt – Raleigh Fall Family Photography
Ashley works with the church I attend, and she oversees the missional communities at the church, one of which my husband, our friend Adwoa, and I lead. It’s been great getting to know her this fall, and I can’t express how much FUN I had with her family!
Extra fun: Instead of completely color-coordinating outfits, they decided to each choose an outfit that represents their season of life right now. For example, Owen’s playing soccer a lot, and he was actually in between games for this session!
I was honestly a little nervous before the session because it’s been a while since I’ve photographed older kids – I mean, some of them can have attitudes and just not be into family photos! – but all nerves washed away as soon as I met Liam, Owen, and Sarah. They were all FOR these photos and having a great time! I looove this photo of them below!
Historic Oak View County Park worked out great for my mini-sessions, because each family and I found unique spots to take photos, and they all offered pretty fall views! Thank you, Oak View!
Ashley & Matt told me that they took a photo similar to the ones below a few years ago, and they have that as a canvas in their home. We decided to do another one so they can hang next to each other! See their new gallery image at the bottom of this post! Of course, we had to do a goofy one too 🙂
Love these photos of each parent with each kid <3
Family huddle! I think this was one of the kid’s ideas, and it’s so cute!
Another fun fact – 2018 is Ashley & Matt’s 20th anniversary year! Awwww, congratulations! Photos are a great way to commemorate this time!
And then we wrapped up the session with a little flossin’ 🙂
Seriously, such a fun session! THANK YOU to each of you in this family for your open mind, your silliness, and your smiles!!
The whole family weighed in on what photo art they wanted during our ordering session 🙂 They decided to order the gallery image to go next their canvas with the similar photo, and they even upgraded the size so it would be the same size as their other one! They also ordered prints of their favorite photos, including a couple extras from what was included!
I had a blast with my fall mini-sessions this year, and I’m already starting to get ideas for what they could look like next year. 🙂 Everyone has their photo art now, some prints are being given as Christmas gifts (shhh, don’t tell!), and the rest will be treasured for years to come!
Thank you for following along! If you’d like to see another fun family, check out Chris & Mal’s Outer Banks session from the beach this summer! (And maybe feel a little warmer by looking at those photos 😉 )
If you’d like to book your own fun family session – or just about any other type of session! – I’m your girl. AND I just unveiled my pay-what-you-can photography structure last week! Take a peek and let me know what you’re interested in here!
Thank you again for taking the time to view this post, and I hope you are in the midst of your own holiday fun! If you’re feeling bogged down by the busyness of the season, find 15 minutes to enjoy some hot chocolate and a candy cane. 🙂 You got this!
In light & love,
Kelly
