Hello, hello!
*Deep breath* – I am so happy to be writing to you right now. It’s been on my list to share Kate & Lucas’s photos from July with you, and after looking through them again, it just hit me *just* how excited I am to share them! I’ve been busy preparing for fall weddings, ordering photo art for my wonderful clients so they can enjoy their photos around their homes, and preparing for my fall mini-sessions. It’s tough to balance time as a small business owner and figure out which tasks need to be priority, but alas – I love the photos I was honored to capture for Kate & Lucas, and I’m glad it’s time to share them. 🙂

Look how cute Elliott is!!
Okay – a little backstory. Kate and I know each other from college at JMU, and I had the pleasure of taking Kate & Lucas’ engagement photos one cold, snowy day in Harrisonburg and then photographing their wedding in Virginia Beach back in 2014! Check those photos out on my previous blog, if you’d like – you can see their engagement photos here and their wedding photos here. Talk about a throwback!
Kate & I kept in touch over the years, and although they live in Virginia Beach, it’s been really fun keeping in touch with her over social media while we both raise little babies! She knew she wanted a photo session when I came back to the area, and I’m so happy we made this happen. 🙂
We met at a garden area of the Tidewater Arboretum, which served as a beautiful floral backdrop for this summer photo session. Enjoy the photos!
Doesn’t Elliott just have the best smile?!
I always love to get some photos of just the babies and just the parents when we can!
And I love the books that they chose to bring to read to Elliott during the session – Everything is Mama and Your Baby’s First Word will be Dada by Jimmy Fallon! (Fun fact & shameless plug: those links to purchase are affiliate links, so I may earn a small commission from your purchase at no additional cost to you. Thank you for supporting this woman-owned small business, and my family as a result!)
It was a hot day, but I hope you can tell how much fun we had together!
Kate & Lucas ordered a gallery image of one of their favorite photos from the session, so they will always be able to see it in their home and reminisce about how little Elliott was! They’re just so sweet.
They also have digital files that they’ll be able to share on social media and use to remember this sweet (and crazy) time well.
Thank you again for everything, Kate & Lucas! It’s so fun to photograph y’all again, 6 years after your wedding. 🙂
And thank you, dear reader, for joining us here today! Want to see another cute baby?! Stay tuned for photos of 6-month-old Bryce soon (from this family – it feels like just yesterday we had their newborn session!), and in the meantime be sure to see photos from my own baby’s first year of life!
I would LOVE to help you capture this time with your family, too. 2020 has been a heck of a year, but one thing hasn’t changed – babies and kids keep growing and changing. I’d love to help you document this time, and give you something fun to look forward to, as well! Book your fall session today. Can’t wait to hear from you!
